Magma PCI Expansion System

Preserve your investment in the PCI imaging board for your camera from The Cooke Corporation, PCO or Photometrics.

Many imaging boards made prior to 2004 are ‘Conventional PCI’ cards that operate using 5 Volt signaling. These do not fit in the ‘PCI Express’ expansion slots of the Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) and the Mac Pro or in the 3.3 Volt Conventional PCI expansion slots of earlier models of Power Mac G5.

The Magma 1 Slot PCI and PCI‐X Expansion System provides a PCI slot to protect your investment in PCI hardware.

It starts with a chassis that holds a Conventional PCI card. The chassis accepts older PCI cards that require 5V signaling, or Universal PCI cards that handle 5V or 3.3V signaling.

The expansion chassis is connected to the host computer though a host interface card ‐ a one‒lane (x1) PCI Express card for the Mac Pro and for the Power Mac G5 (Late 2005), a PCI card for earlier models of Power Mac G5 ‐ and a high-fidelity cable.

A 45‒Watt external power brick supplies the chassis with current for the card.
